Legal (pronounced /ləˈgæl/) is a town in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 42 kilometers (26 mi) north of Edmonton on Highway 651, immediately east of Highway 2.
Legal was founded as a Francophone settlement and is now famous for its French-themed murals.
Legal was also where hockey star Kyle Chipchura went to school and played minor hockey.

In 2006, Legal had a population of 1,192 living in 424 dwellings, a 12.7% increase from 2001. The town has a land area of 2.55 km² (1 sq mi) and a population density of 466.7/km² (1,208.7/sq mi).[1]
