Left-handed material

Left-handed materials are materials that have simultaneously negative permittivity and negative permeability. Sometimes, these materials are also designated by the terms doubly negative material or negative index material.
The term "left-handed material" was coined by a prediction of Russian theorist V. G. Veselago in 1968. It is a reference to the right-hand rule of electromagnetism.
