[edit] FCAT
The FCAT (Florida Comprehension Assessment Test) is a yearly examination that is required by all 10th and 11th grade students. Lecanto High's rival school, Crystal River High School, was challenged this year to outscore Lecanto's letter grade (a grade given by the state of Florida judging the average performance of pupils on the FCAT). Crystal River's overall last year was recorded as a 'D' as Lecanto successfully made a solid 'B'. This year however, Crystal River has been raised to a 'C' as Lecanto dropped to a 'C'.[citation needed]
