Talk:Leandro Barbosa
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I added the fact that Leandro is known as the "Brazilian Blur" and someone deleted it citing that it was "unreferenced material." Anyone who watches Phoenix Suns games knows this aptly-given nickname, and I would encourage him or her not to delete it in the future.
- This coming from someone who does a stupid edit like this. Suggestion: read the guidelines, mate. --203.214.88.244 10:19, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm glad this edit finally made it to the page. It seems to be a more and more commonly used nickname.
Is it true that he eats a cow liver every day? The link is not in English, and I can't read Portugese. Please find an English language link seeing as how this in the English language Wikipedia.
Why does the end of the trivia have something about some stupid girl saying that she's his number one fan, as if he's actually going to read his own Wikipedia article. I can't figure out how to delete it, but somebody should.
[edit] The liver
I read the article cited in the entry and it doesn't specify that it's a cow's liver, so I deleted that detail. A Brazilian friend suggests that it's a chicken liver (cooked, he says, it is quite popular and I would say a bit more manageable than cow's liver). It also says that it is "batido" which means that it is mixed together (imagine liver milkshake). His brother is the one who prepared this delicious dish for him (an important influence in his basketball career). I also want to note that if we rely on only English language sources, especially for non-English speaking persons, we are severely limited in the information available to support comprehensive and reliable entries. On that subject, the Spanish language SI had an article on Barbosa this past summer that would fill out the sadly underdeveloped background section.
- I don't read or speak Spanish, but being a big Barbosa fan, I would sure love it if someone could get a hold of that SI article and have a hayday with this (yes) "sadly underdeveloped" background section. If nothing else, maybe it is worth mentioning in the page that Spanish Sports Illustrated wrote about him at all? - For some reason I am suddenly interested in the issue of non-English sources. I can see the advantages of allowing them, the more information the better. On the other had it makes it difficult for people to check the sources unless they happen to be multilingual. Does Wikipedia have an official policy on this matter?--Blackmagicfish 04:47, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
I´m brazilian and i´ve read the article. It doesn´t says if it´s cow or chicken liver. It just says he eats with bean. When he doesn´t eat it, he feels weak. Digodf 21:50, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wingspan
He seriously has a 6'10" wingspan?--MP123 03:49, 16 May 2007 (UTC) That is absolutely ridicilous.
[edit] Kobe Bryant
When presented with the 6th man of the Year Award TNT announcer Doug Collins reported that Barbosa was congratulated by Kobe Bryant earlier and Barbosa was very humbled by it as he was/is a Big Kobe Bryant fan from his days in Brazil to this day. Immortal24 21:07, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
