Leaping gait

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The leaping gaits are a group of related quadruped gaits that include canter, gallop, and stot (also known as pronk and prong).[1] These gaits share the characteristic of a leading leg and consequently the possibility of a lead change. There are 9 of these gaits.[1]

Leaping gaits are distinct from running gaits: the latter include trotting (see Terrestrial locomotion).
