Lead chalcogenide

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Lead chalcogenide refers to a group of chemical compounds that are chalcogenides of lead. Chalcogenides are the chemical elements, sulfur, selenium and tellurium. So the term refers to lead sulfide, lead selenide or lead telluride. It can also refer to alloys of these three materials, or to alloys in which lead is partially replaced by other elements from the same chemical group such as tin, for example lead tin telluride.

Lead chalcogenide collidal quantum dots are used for LASERs in the near infrared region of the spectrum.
