[edit] Story
Yoko, Vic and Pol are traveling to a branch of the Amazon river. A rich German called Krüger wants them to solve a chess riddle, using their chess skills and the computer program Yoko wrote. When they arrive in a private plane, they almost crash into a biplane piloted by the fourteen-year old Emilia. The girl joins Yoko in her search as Vic and Pol are abducted by Krüger.
It turns out that the trio's visit was staged by Comtesse Olga, first seen in L'Or du Rhin. Together with Krüger, she discovered an old steel factory, in which an old, but operative, Russian nuclear warhead is hidden. On the site where the factory was built, a certain lighter-than-air ore was discovered, deposited by a meteorite ages ago. Further mining of the material would endanger the cruise missile. Yoko, Emilia and Olga solve the chess riddle that grants access to the missile's controls and launch it, allowing it to safely drop its warhead by parachute.
