[edit] Wikipedia:Verifiability
We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as those in Mario Kart, but we regretfully cannot accept original research. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thanks for your efforts, and happy editing! --HeaveTheClay (talk) 23:58, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

We are not a fansite. You need to have reliable sources. See the verifiability required on Wikipedia. Do not send me images that are hosted on unsourceable websites. Until then, all the best. --HeaveTheClay (talk) 01:00, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
This article needs additional citations for verification. Please help improve this article by adding reliable references. Unsourced material may be challenged and removed. (February 2008) |
[edit] It's not that I don't believe your information
I know those characters ARE in the game or are out. Since the game is not out officially, you need to have Wikipedia guideline sources. Fans who have copies of the game early, it is not a good source. See Wikipedia guidelines for sources. Again, it is not that I don't think they are in the game or out, it's the nature of this encyclopedia requires good sources. Photobucket, Web forums, etc, aren't acceptable on Wikipedia. All the best.--HeaveTheClay (talk) 02:15, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Mario Kart Wii, multiple same citations
I took the liberty of adding one single citation for all the unlockable characters, etc. Add 1 to each character (instead of the reference) to link to the N-Europe story. --HeaveTheClay (talk) 18:18, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
With regard to your comments on The Spectacular Spider-Man (TV series): Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Note that continued personal attacks will lead to blocks for disruption. Please stay cool and keep this in mind while editing. Thank you.--CyberGhostface (talk) 23:44, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

- Just thought I'd let you know: some people are putting Holiday 2008 because it says exactly that on the US English site (whereas the Europe site is exactly the same with the exception of the word "Late" where "Holiday" goes - most Europeans don't refer to the Christmas season as Holiday). [edit] On this article...
Unfortunately, the use of Serebii.net as a source violates both WP:NOR and WP:SPS. Wait until the episode is out and all the details are clear before updating the article. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 00:59, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
- All right, I've gone ahead and brought the article up to date with a little helpful edit from Drakesketchit. When the next episode airs and you want to update the article, try to write and cite it the way MelicansMatkin and I do to avoid violating any rule related to WP:NOR and WP:SPS. -- Altiris Helios Exeunt 13:40, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Rosalina
Before you start another tirade, let me explain some things:
I did remove Rosalina from the article on 3/28. The reason was that, at the time, everything about her was pretty much given in the plot section of the Galaxy article. Plus, the part about her being in MKWii was (again at the time), speculation and had no credible source. We now know that the latter is true (and can be verified).
I checked the history of the article [[1]] and noticed that:
- 1. Another user re-added Rosalina on 3/31.
- 2. Subsequently, someone with an IP address removed her again on 4/8. I had nothing at all to do with that. That's not even the IP address of my PC.
- 3. I've had nothing to do with the article since 3/28.
- 4. After you added Rosalina back today, TTN reverted your edit. His reason? It would be best to explain when reverting. Rosalina is still too minor at this point. Wait until she appears in more games.
So what? Is TTN a vandal as well? Because he gave an understandable, concrete reason for his edit like I did?
I'll give my reason again: Rosalina is a minor character. She had one big role. That's it. She also appeared in one spin-off game, that has no bearing whatsoever on the series as a whole. It's not a matter of playability; it's a matter of notability, and Rosalina lacks a good deal of it.
There's a difference between vandalism and removing content that isn't note-worthy. Vandals have no reasons for their actions; they're just jerks. I, however, made that edit in an attempt to better the article. Remember, I said that if anyone found a problem with my edit, feel free to revert it. Hopefully, you can understand this, because I don't have the time to argue over something so trivial. ChromeWulf ZX (talk) 18:50, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Little context in List of nuclear engineers
Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on List of nuclear engineers, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because List of nuclear engineers is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. All of them? Are you saying that every single list of video games based on console only covers those three? Are you saying if I go to the Featured List Wikipedia page, there won't be a list of games that acknowledges Australia? Or are you saying that the only ones that matter are those that defend your point? - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, silly me - I was so dumb! I totally forgot that there are only five video game consoles in the history of the industry. No N64, Atari, NES, SNES, PSX, anything else - ONLY those. And I forgot that the ideal quality of articles is Start, which all of those are.
Will you please explain to me why it is stupid to say "worse articles are worse than better articles"? You cite many Start articles. If all lists of video games by console supported your argument, and the one list left - the featured list - supported mine, you would, by default, have a worse argument. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:16, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Do you have one single Wikipedia policy or guideline that even implies being old means that it shouldn't be emulated?
- Are you saying that if Pong were a featured article, it shouldn't be used as an example of a quality article more than a terrible article on a game that came out today? The only thing that matters is the QUALITY of an article. Being a Featured list means it is an "example of the highest quality on Wikipedia". Why shouldn't we emulate the highest qualtiy on Wikipedia? - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Response.
-
- Check out Snowboard Kids 2 on N64's page. Are you familiar with the flag? Probably not, so... It's Australia's.
- And of course, I bet you don't want to bring up video game articles, which are supposed to include Australia if there is a date provided for it.
- The fact that all of your examples calls the region that the games are released in as Europe, even though the release date covers South Africa, a non-European, predominantly white region, shows that what they do hardly sets precedence. You're basically saying that ignorance is allowed because everyone else is being ignorant. Are you saying that these lists are edited from an objective POV? It is very rare to find any editors from the United States in the gaming spectrum who aren't biased towards a US perspective, and I doubt that all these lists are overflowing with them.
- There is no guideline that ever suggests that an article should emulate a Start-class article. Is there also a reason provided why the third-biggest English speaking country (behind US and Canada) is not relevant? - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:32, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Response.
Um, so, you're saying that because Australia is not as relevant, it shouldn't be removed? I guess being the least relevant is all that matters. We'll just ignore the fact that the least relevant is not necessarily irrelevant.
Europe gets games so much slower than Japan and North America, I'd really love to see a single reason to remove Australia that doesn't apply to Europe as well. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:41, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- And Australia got Trace Memory several months before North America. But of course, THAT doesn't matter, right? It's just some silly little exception. Until, of course, I find dozens upon dozens of additional examples. - A Link to the Past (talk) 05:46, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, great argument - "because these guys do it, I'm allowed to do it". I guess I should vandalize the article, since much of Wikipedia has been vandalized.
And I live in Minnesota. Nice guess. But even if I did, it wouldn't matter. I would be annoyed at the blatant ignorance of silly Americans - not naming names, besides yours - thinking that Australia, one of the biggest English-speaking regions in the world, and one of the biggest gaming regions in the world (with only North America, Europe, Japan, and South Korea being bigger, and the latter is only bigger because of the PC community). If you don't include Australia and Canada (which does often have its own release date, if you'll observe), the inclusion of release dates is not appropriate. The content is not of use to millions of people, and instead of making it of use, you brush them off as irrelevant.
The only question is "is Australia big enough?" And the answer is yes. If you object, the answer is "be quiet". - A Link to the Past (talk) 04:43, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Response.
[edit] You don't seem to understand Wikipedia policy.
You cannot alter my comment in any way. You are not allowed to slash out any comment I made no more than I am allowed to slash out every comment you've made. You don't seem to understand that - and I attribute this to poor grasp of policy. An editor is not allowed to alter another editor's comment. By edit warring with me over the content in my comment, regardless of your intention, it is vandalism. I do not wish for you to alter my post, so if you continue to do so, I will report you for doing so. This is not a threat, this is a warning. All I care about is getting you to learn that you're not allowed to do that, ever. You may get people more temperamental than myself if you don't watch yourself. - A Link to the Past (talk) 23:34, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- So since you do not intend on following Wikipedia policy on editing other users' comments and refuse to do so, I'm going to take it upon myself to have you blocked from Wikipedia the next time you make any attempt at editing a comment of mine. - A Link to the Past (talk) 00:29, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Do not delete comments from my talk page
I don't know what is going on yet, but despite my slow connection, I plan on looking in to it. That said, do not delete any more comments (esp. on my talk page) if you delete anything else (comment-wise) you'll find yourself on the wrong end of a block for disruption. Btw, using "troll" in this case (in the edit summary) was also a personal attack, I'd advise against that as well. R. Baley (talk) 00:55, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- And I'm tired of arguing with you, Lbrun. All I care about is the future of the List of Wii games. However, so long as you keep attempting to archive the ongoing discussion or alter my post in any way, I will keep on. It's your choice what you want to do - do you want to keep on, leading to a block, or do you want to end this endless discussion and both users can go on with themselves? - A Link to the Past (talk) 01:00, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Ssbbwolfroster.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Ssbbwolfroster.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

[edit] Inappropriate edit summaries, again
Please do not stoop to the level of the vandals when dealing with them. Edit summaries like this one are completely inappropriate. This clearly breaches WP:NPA and WP:CIVIL. If yopu cannot act better than the vandals you will be treated like one and blocked. You have been warned about this behavior before. Please take this warning seriously. If you continue to insult and belittle people, yes even vandals, you will get yourself into trouble. Please do revert vandalism, but do it without insulting them. Thanks, Gwernol 05:53, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
