[edit] Topography
Southville City lies on the southern edge of the Kent Plains. To the west lie the Southville Ranges, and to the south lies the Southern Ocean.
The city itself lies on the banks of the Southville River, and its associated harbour, and these features split Southville City into three distinct parts:
- Southville Peninsula - The southernmost part of the city, which contains the city centre. It is separated from the mainland by the Southville Harbour and the Harbour Ithusmis (a 1.5 km strip of land separating Southville Harbour from Kent Bay). Historic evidence suggest that Southville Peninsula was once an island, but tectonic movement has pushed land up, with the island connecting to the mainland around 2000 years ago. The land on the peninsula is flat, and close to sea level. The highest point is just 3m (10ft) above mean seal level.
- Northern Southville - The northeastern part of the city, containing the main transport corridor to the north. It is separated from Southville peninsula by the Harbour ithsmus and Western Southville by the Southville River. Land here generally is flat, with most land being between 5 to 10 metres above mean sea level.
- Western Southville - The northwestern part of the city, separated from Southville Peninsula by the Southville Harbour, and Northern Southville by the Southville River. Land here is flat in the eastern half, with the western half containing rolling hills. Height above mean sea level averages 10 to 15 metres.
[edit] Demographics
At the 2006 Census, Southville City was the home to 151,200 people. Of these, 148,900 people lived within the Southville urban area, and 2,800 lived in the satellite town of Ashwood; the remainder mainly lived in the hill country to the west and north west of the main urban area.
56% of Southville's population is female; the highest of the Big Six. This is mainly due to most of the male working class employees of the city's companies prefering to live in the coummuter towns of the South Kent District.
Southville is predominantly European; 84 percent identify their primary ethinicity as so. Eight percent are East Asian, four percent are Latin Americans, two percent are Pacific Islanders, one percent African, and one percent Middle Eastern.
[edit] Climate
Due to Southville's southern and unsheltered location, the city can be susceptible to prolonged cold weather and heavy rain.

Southville is served by National Routes A1 and A8. Three additional National Routes serve parts of the city: A84 links the airport with N8 and N1, A85 links Western and Northern Southville, acting as a bypass of the city centre, and A80, linking the A1 with the city centre, and forming a ring road around the city centre.

[edit] Metro
The Southville Metro is a light rail system serving the majority of Southville City. It is composed of five lines (Blue, Yellow, Black, Green, and Red), with grade separated junctions on all lines. There are also several underground sections, especially near the city centre.
[edit] Air
Southville International Airport (IATA code STV), the main airport in the area, lies 15 kilometres (nine miles) north east of the central city. All major domestic airlines provide services from Terminal 1 to virtually all major destinations throughout New Denver. International flights depart from Terminal 2, and serve most major airports in Asia Pacific and America.
