This should not redirect to Deacon. As that article states, 'In many traditions, the diaconate is a clerical office; in others, it is for laity.' Within the United Methodist Church, we have Lay Leaders, but no Deacons. Anyway, I am removing the redirect and putting in a poorly written placeholder. Feel free to improve! :-) Or, if you feel that I am in error, I would be glad to hear some counter arguments. PerlKnitter 12:26, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
