The note about laxatives being sold to women omits the fact it is not unusual for a woman to get constipated prior to getting her period, and it is also not unusal for a woman to have the opposite problem during her period.

Not really, but it may be possible that she is allergic. And all that would really happen is she would have soft stool in 6 hours, unless you want to try giving her a suppository. I suggest ipecac. --Bjmp11 07:52, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Pranksters put laxatives in school doughnuts
Students arrested for alleged prank

(Holtsville - WABC, March 30, 2007) - Five pranksters at a Holtsville middle school were arrested and charged for placing laxative in doughnuts and distributed them to students Friday. Suffolk County Police arrested the five juveniles today after they allegedly distributed doughnuts that they had laced with a laxative.

All five juveniles were charged with Tampering with a Consumer Product 2nd Degree. They were released to their parents' custody and issued an appearance ticket for a future date at Family Court. Fifth Squad detectives are continuing the investigation.

More than a dozen parents arrived to pick up children in the midst of ambulances and other less-informed parents... "Me and my friend were crying because we didn't really know what was going on," she said. "So we were just sitting outside and they told us to wait. And there were ambulances, and they told us we'd have to go to the hospital."

What if she has an anal tear, it would feel like being forced to pass a quart of hot vinegar through a cut. Leave some saltwater on a nontrivial wound and see how that feels.

Prunes are Bulk-producing agents, as they are high in dietary fiber, just like whole wheat grains. Funny story, I was once asked on a fitness test to name 3 foods high in fiber. I named "whole wheat grain, flax seed, and prunes". My instructor marked me wrong, because they said "prunes are laxatives, they're not high in fiber". I guess he didn't realize that "laxative" and "high in fiber" are synonymous. --Moeburn 04:00, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

I am almost certain that prunes are a stimulant type laxative though they do have fiber. Prune Juice is an even more powerful laxative and contains less fiber. Prunes can also cause diarhea which is at best rare in fiber based laxatives but common in stimulant and osmotic ones.

On a similar note I question the inclusion of aloe vera in the list of stimulant/irritant laxatives. Aloe Vera is an effective hydrating agent with soothing properties and a slimy texture. To the extent it has laxative properties, it is probably a stool softener and lubricant.

In Hydrating Agents -> Saline, the links in the sodium phosphate article use different names. dibasic sodium phosphate is HNa2PO4, disodium hydroge phosphate. monobasic sodium phosphate is NaH2PO4, sodium dihydrogen phosphate. Sodium biphosphate is also NaH2PO4. Source: google

I added in a problems section. The intro had these issues in it, but the article didn't flow well. I've added some clinical observations that I know are published, and others I've seen in my clinical experience.
