[edit] Funky Venues

A tag has been placed on Funky Venues, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Maybe I can help. Please read WP:WEB, does Funky Venues pass the criteria? If so, it certainly shouldn't be speedy deleted - at worst it would go to a deletion debate at WP:AFD. --Dweller 11:49, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your input I really appreciate that. The first article I posted did not meet the criteria and was deleted fairly, so I went to work trying to make it conform. I edited the article to pass the criteria by changing formatting, sighting text and image sources, removing all opinionated comments etc. Rambling Man got rid of it again without consulting me in any way and still refuses to sight specifics from the article that he felt did not conform. I tried to appeal for any potential ammendments in the talk page, and posted his talk page asking for help. I think that no matter what changes I make he will continue to delete the article because of an anti company agenda here on wikipedia. In my opinion if an article about a company meets the criteria it has every right to be posted.

It does, but I'm unconvinced that it meets the criteria. The best notability claim I could find in the last deleted version was "Funky Venues won a prestigious accolade at the RSVP Awards in 2007. It was placed in the top five hot new products of the year category and event industry experts certified it “Highly Commended”." I'm not sure if this is or isn't a real notability claim, rather than just a minor award. Do you have a citation for this? Other than that, what makes you think it is notable, as defined in WP:WEB? --Dweller 14:04, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Citation as in a picture of the award and/or a reference from the RSVP awards (in which case yes). It is notable in the sense that the RSVP awards are well respected in this area, it's not just anyone that recieves these awards.

Re citations, I mean a reference to it in a reliable source. If the awards are "well respected", they'll be reported on in various media. --Dweller 14:26, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Funky Venues One.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Thanks for uploading Image:Funky Venues Two.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
