[edit] Commercial use of Image:PROLOGO.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:PROLOGO.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:PROLOGO.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:PROLOGO.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 15:16, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ice Records

Well, lessee. Ice Records was founded and is owned by Eddy Grant, a notable musician. The artists it releases include many, if not most, of the notable calypso and soca artists in the Caribbean. Grant, and the calypso and soca artists, meet the guidelines at WP:MUSIC. Pro-Gravity Records doesn't include any artists in its stable except local acts from Cumberland, Maryland. None of the articles you created on those artists indicate that they meet WP:MUSIC, and none of the articles are supported by independent sources.

If you have sources indicating that Pro-Gravity or any of its acts are notable, make the arguments in the AFD. And you might want to read WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS as well. Thanks, NawlinWiki 17:20, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

  • You said: <<It seems as though if an artist isn't on a major record label or doesn't release a song that charts, they're going to be deleted, which (IMHO) flies in the face of what Wikipedia is about.>> Well, yes, kind of. WP:MUSIC is a little broader than that. But if we don't draw a line somewhere, Wikipedia will quickly become MySpace. Every day, dozens of people post articles on their bands -- many on the order of "We started this band yesterday in my basement and are still looking for a drummer." Like I said, a line has to be drawn somewhere. The consensus of the community, so far, has been that the line is drawn as stated in WP:MUSIC. If you feel that those guidelines should be changed, post to Wikipedia talk:Notability (music). If you feel that some or all of your articles meet WP:MUSIC, make your arguments in the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pro-Gravity Records. Thanks, NawlinWiki 17:47, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please start new topics at the bottom of a talk page

Hi, please start new discussions at the bottom of a talk page, so that the discussions will remain in chronological order. Doing otherwise, as you did recently on Wikipedia talk:Notability (music) can be extremely confusing to other people. If you put it at the top, most people will assume it's an old discussion and simply overlook it, so this benefits you as well. I moved your new topic down to the bottom of the page, where it belongs, as a new topic. Cheers. Xtifr tälk 21:10, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

No problem, it's an easy mistake to make. Thanks for the quick reply. Cheers. :) Xtifr tälk 21:15, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
p.s. quick tip. If you look at the top of a talk page, you'll see a tab marked with "+". That's a shortcut to start a new topic, and it automatically adds the new topic to the bottom of the page. It makes life a lot easier. :) Xtifr tälk 21:18, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CMD, Represent

This is Adam Labutka, and I'm happy to help out where I can. I see who I believe to be Geno and Jim also involved in this, so who, if I may ask, are you? Cdadamly 17:34, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Recreation of Distorted Penguins

Hello, Lawofone. I notice that you recreated the article on Distorted Penguins. The proper process to go through to dispute a deletion is Wikipedia:Deletion review. Under the criteria for speedy deletion at Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#G4, the article can be deleted as a recreation of deleted material. I will delete it again, but please bring up your request for review at Wikipedia:Deletion review if you have concerns that the original deletion was not according to policy. Also, are you James R. Frazier? This is an important question that will determine the validity of the license that you attached to one of the images you uploaded. Sancho 16:41, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

I shouldn't be cryptic. I was talking about this image of the Antiform cover. You say that James R Frazier was the creator, but you claimed to release it under the GFDL by saying "I, the copyright holder...". Sancho 16:48, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
