I'm a librarian at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and I study the Hebrew Bible and writings from the Levant during time of the kingdoms of Israel and Judah and their subsequent exile, roughly 1000 to 500 B.C.E.
I recognize the importance of Wikipedia, because I know that learners—including students, enthusiasts, and the curious—will _use_ free, online resources. I prefer Wikipedia to blogs, because along with the rough-and-tumble of voiced opinions, in the Wikipedia there seems to be a reasonable attempt at fairness in governance, some grace for beginners, and an attempt to give a fair hearing to dissenting voices. These elements are not always present on blogs.
