[edit] Sourcing for death

A man claiming to be White's son says that he died on April 5, 2006. An ssdi search confirms this. Sort of original research though... Cheers, CP 19:33, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Removed per WP:BLP pending the emergence of a proper source. Quatloo 03:21, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
It's really one of the downfalls of WP:NOR. The evidence is staring us right in the face, but we can't do anything about it. I doubt a proper source will ever emerge - he's been dead for a year and half now. Ah well, the law of Wikipedia triumphs over the spirit. Cheers, CP 04:10, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
How can someone as important as a former CIA chief be dead without a news story? Is he really dead? Quatloo 11:34, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I got suspicious a while back and checked the SSDI. If you search for Lawrence K. White, you get two, one of whom was born on June 10, 1912 and died April 5, 2006. He was also listed in another death register, though I can't find that anymore. Then when I saw the comment from someone alleging to be their son, I was fairly convinced, since they got the date right and gave details that one wouldn't expect from a non-relative (see above link). I think it's highly unlikely that a different Lawrence K. White born June 10, 1912 would have died recently (White was confirmed to be alive in the early 2000s I believe). It's not completely unheard of for someone high ranking to die and not get an obituary. WHPS J. Leonard Reinsch died back in 1991, and no one noticed until 2006. Maybe there's someone that could be contacted who might know of an official obituary? Cheers, CP 22:19, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
