[edit] Why is this a law?

Hi, I'm a British dumb ass, and while this article is easy to read and information, it doesn't tell me the one piece of information that I was looking for. Why do you have this law in the first place?

Without the LEOSA, most law enforcement officers, under most circumstances, would be allowed to carry concealed firearms only within their own state, or perhaps even only within their own local jurisdiction, and not within the other states or local jurisdictions. But any person who qualifies under the LEOSA can carry a concealed firearm in any jurisdiction, subject to the limitations described. The purpose of the law is to have more good guys, more places, prepared to intervene effectively when they see bad guys about to hurt people. Since the law was enacted, there have in fact been incidents in which persons armed under authority of the LEOSA have intervened to protect innocent persons from serious crimes. Just another symptom of the fanatical gun culture of the americans.

If the crime rate in the UK was anyhting like it is here you'd understand. Everyone has a gun and they're not hard to get. Congress is just trying to even up the score. Should be informative not information.

"Just another symptom of the fanatical gun culture of the americans." --Where more lawful citizens are allowed to carry guns, the crime rate goes down. E.g.: "In his new book, "More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws," economist John Lott reveals some startling findings. Lott studied the FBI's annual crime figures for all 3,054 U.S. counties from '77 through '92 and other data through '94. His findings show that the "states with the largest increases in gun ownership also have the largest drops in violent crimes." Furthermore, in concealed-carry states, "The number of multiple-victim public shootings declined by 84%." Also, "Deaths from these shootings plummeted on average by 90%, injuries by 82%."" http://www.junkscience.com/news2/moreguns.htm —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.23.104.154 (talk) 13:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Application to the military

I removed a posting regarding application of LEOSA to military police. This information was clearly opinion, erroneous, and failed to cite any authority to support it. Slyjackalope (talk) 00:31, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
