[edit] Liger Revisited

I know that you don't feel my Black Liger info. was particularly useful to the article, but can I at least provide a link to my post on the talk page? It contains the summarized info. plus references plus quotes from the references. I think that at least some people might find it interesting. I would add it to the page in the following (or a similar) way: *An internal link here) to the theoretical possibility of breeding a Black Liger.* Please Reply - 01:09, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 2003 UB313

Hi Laura, I have a question. While cleaning up some vandalism at 2003 UB313 (or at least attempting to), I messed up by reverting to the wrong version. Then I forgot to log in before correcting my mistake, and to make things worse I tried in vain to use this trick to set things straight. The result is that I didn't only reveal my IP, but also unneccesarily complicated the page history. Therefore, I'd like to ask whether it is possible to remove the four edits made between 10 and 13 UTC, which are all mine. Thanks for reading this. Nick Mks 16:25, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Thank you so much, and sorry for your time (I had no idea that this procedure takes that long). If I can do anything in return on the Project Physics, let me know. Nick Mks 20:01, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] A question about off-topic requests in article talk pages

Hi, I'm wondering if you can look into this issue. User:Danielpi posted an off-topic request in an article's talk page. [1] I removed it but he placed it back in and told me that I should contact an admin. Could you take a look at it? Dionyseus 02:32, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Texas Tides

Laura,

We are new to Wikipedia and welcome your heads-up! We, like the Portal to Texas History, which has also added external links to various articles, are an educational program. We are attempting to connect researchers with our collections by linking relevant objects in our digital collections to relevant articles in Wikipedia. We noticed the Portal to Texas History's links...have they been added via a different protocol than direct addition? Please let us know!

Thanks so much, Priscilla Coulter and the Texas Tides team http://tides.sfasu.edu/ Texas Tides 16:51, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Song of Fire and Ice Headings

I noticed that you recently changed some of the section headings in articles concerning George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire. You changed section headings reading "Characters in "Title"" to "Characters", citing the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. I've looked over the said manual, as well as the more specific Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings) help page, and I can't seem to find where it says that you should avoid repeating article titles in section headings. Additionally, as a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels, the Novels Project articles generally use the Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/ArticleTemplate, which uses the section style "Characters in "Title"". If you can point me to a specific clause in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style stating to avoid the aforementioned style for character section headings, then I'll notify the head of the Novels Wikiproject to have the template changed. Otherwise, I'm going to restore your changes back to the original version.

You can respond to me back on my talk page. Happy editing! - Runch 00:17, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your help, I'm bringing up this issue with the members of the Novels Wikiproject. - Runch 03:30, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Biddenden maids.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Biddenden maids.gif. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rory096 06:49, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

Hi Laura,

Would you mind looking at Photon for its FA candidacy? It's getting good reviews, but I'm really surprised that so few physicists are commenting on it. :( You always seem really smart and reasonable, so I would value your opinion even if it wasn't Support. [edit] Uploading images

Hi Laura, I have been reading the Wikipedia Rules on how to upload an image to my site, and can't quite get it to work. I added that it is for educational purposes, which put it under a speedy deletion notice. I'm wondering how to upload an image without having everything i do deleted! The image was created by Stephen F. Austin State University's Web Development Department, created in conjunction with a Texas Infrustructure Fund Board grant -Texas Tides. The image is available on the Texas Tides home page located at: http://tides.sfasu.edu. Texas Tides images are provided by participating museums, libraries, and archives for fair use for non-commercial and/or educational purposes. People wishing to use Texas Tides images should include the Texas Tides program name and Website URL in their citation. This is our own image that i wanted to put on our site. How do i do that? Thanks Texas Tides 16:24, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Looking for Interviewees

Hello,

I am a freelance writer working on an article about the subculture of people who use Wikipedia the way the rest of us use MySpace. So I’m looking to interview several Wikipedia “addicts” as well as people who, while they don’t consider themselves addicted, do spend a good amount of time on the site editing articles, patrolling for errors, seeking out false articles, fighting for changes they made to be kept in, and otherwise contributing to the site. If you are interested please email me at brianrhodges@gmail.com.

This offer is open to anybody else reading this, not just this particular user. But please, don’t come to me with if you’re hoping I’ll be exposing conspiracies or censorship issues amongst the wikipedia higher-ups. That’s not really what this article is about.

Thanks,

[edit] Laplace-Runge-Lenz vector

Hi, Laura, I've been working on the Laplace-Runge-Lenz vector and I'm toying with the idea of submitting it to be a Featured Article candidate. I'm really unsure, though, because it is so technical. Could you please give it a glance and tell me what you think? You were a big help on Photon, and your advice/insights would be really welcome. Thanks muchly! Willow 17:00, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

Pretty please? I won't mind at all if you tell me that it's hopeless. If you don't have time, that's totally cool, too. Appreciative thanks, :) Willow 19:39, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Importance

How do you figure that optical cavity is more important than polarizers or waveplates? Just curious how "importance" is defined. Polarizers and waveplates are important, fundamental optical devices. Optical cavities are, despite their vital applications in lasers and coatings, of much less fundamental importance.--Srleffler 21:01, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help Resolving a conflict

I have read the pages about this on wikipedia and I have came to you because you seem to be a person who knows how wikipedia is supposed to work and are most likely 100% neutral on this matter. I am involved in a rather intense edit war with two other editors of the article Miriam Rivera. In the last days the user User:Jokestress has quite reasonably asked for the article to be backed up with more reliable sources. Well I found them and that seems to have placated her. She has acted in 100% reasonable way in all of this. The problem arises in that she has asked in the spirt of resolving the conflict we were having other people who are not 100% neutral it seems to comment on the matter. These being the user User:Longhair and the userUser:Alison in particular who have not bothered to justify anything that they have done. Longhiar being an admin seems to feel no need to discuss anything and I feel is abusing her powers. Is there anything you can do? --Hfarmer 03:28, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cleopatra Selene (II)

Please do not remove the Plutarch reference from the article. People who read this article, some don't know nor understand the Greek language. Selene is a modern and ancient Greek word for moon. Not everyone who reads this article, knows the history of ancient Greece, so it needs to be there. Also, it is a fact of Selene's life that needs to be mentioned in the article. I take great pride in writing the history of my country of descent, so please leave the reference there. Thank you for your understanding.

[edit] ATLAS experiment

Hi Laurascudder. Thanks for your work on adding references to ATLAS experiment. I kept intending to work on it, but I've been otherwise occupied. Now that I returned to take a look, I find the zeal with which the FA status was removed to be a little disheartening. I guess I should dive into the references, then work through the review process again, and see it all as an opportunity to improve the article. Siiiiigh. -- SCZenz 13:05, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
