[edit] About me
I am currently an undergraduate student from the University of Delaware majoring in East Asian Studies with a focus on Japan, but I am also interested in Korean and Chinese studies. I have a passion for languages and know some German, Japanese and I am currently formally studying Japanese at my University.
From 2003 until 2005 I worked on getting my Associate's degree in Computer Information Systems at Delaware Technical and Community College, so I have a rather limited programming background and some experience with C, C++, Java, VB.net, and SQL.
[edit] Relationship with Wikipedia
Like many people my age I am a fan of video games, particularly of the role-playing variety, and participate in Internet culture, but I am against blatant fancruft of any kind, especially when it involves a subject I like. Fancruft is insulting to fans who don't think the world revolves around the subject.
At this time, I am still a young Wikipedian and have yet to contribute anything of substance to the project. I hope to be able to add what little I know to culture and language articles, as well as tidy up unsightly articles. I hope to be more of a fact-checker and custodian more than anything else.
I've just recently become addicted to cleaning up uncategorized stubs. It's such a menial task, but strangely addicting. All users should really try it out, especially if you're at a loss for what to do or just have some spare time on your hands.
In light of Bluemoose's stub-patrolling bot Bluebot, I've found myself going through stubs less and less. It's just too overwhelming when there are hundreds - in some cases over a thousand - stubbed articles to sort through. It used to be strangely therapeutic, but now it's just annoying and stressful. Instead, I tend to click on the Random Article link until something interesting or poorly written enough to edit pops up. This might be why the articles I edit seem pretty spastic and don't follow much of a pattern.
