[edit] Release
Can somebody elaborate more on why it will take "potentially years" to release Launchpad as free software? Also, there was some intense debate going on about Launchpad at this closed thread on Ubuntu forums, and I'm curious if people would like to present the two sides of the story in the article to summarize the debate. Maybe I will start some... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.212.67.181 (talk • contribs)
- That was there because it was in the official faq. You're probably better off asking around the launchpad community. Try the launchpad-users mailing list at http://lists.ubuntu.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by dsas (talk • contribs)
The tone of this is wrong - it reads like an official document. Secretlondon 12:19, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Criticism section
I find the criticism section oversized. It may be an issue but this article makes the impression that it is the most important thing to say about Launchpad. Besides, it is typical for project management sites to be closed source, even if they support open source. So, I will prune this section and merge it with the following one about releasing parts of it as open source. Please discuss this here. – Torsten Bronger (talk) 18:58, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
- Besides, even if Launchpad was open source, it's source could still be kept secret, because Launchpad (as a product) is not distributed (ASP loophole). Azrael Nightwalker (talk) 12:57, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
