Born in Yackandandah, Victoria as William Lawrence McIntosh, the eldest son of a farmer. Went on to found a Christian Training Organisation.

Completed a Diploma of Engineering at Swinburne University of Technology (then STC).
Completed Bachelor of Arts: Anthropology and Linguistics at Wheaton College (Illinois) in Chicago.
Completed Masters of Theology at Moore College.
[edit] Preparation for Ministry
Worked in England for Campus Crusade. Had a successful ministry to Beatniks and Engineering students in England.
Returned to Australia to work on the family farm in Bourke, NSW, when his father suffered a heart attack. Designed and built the irrigation system for their dairy farm.
Led the local church as an unpaid preacher.
[edit] Cornerstone Community
Laurie formed Cornerstone Community in Bourke with the support of Paul Roe, Owen Boone, and Jack Buster. As National Director, Laurie has overseen both rapid expansion and difficult consolidation of the Australia-wide operations.
His role as National Director has taken a new dimension with the formation of the Cornerstone Executive. The Executive meets weekly to discuss matters as far ranging as new ministry possibilities, staff placement and finances. The Executive consists of Paul Roe (Assistant National Director), Les Follent (Director of Training), Andrew Grant (Director of Finance and Business), and Peter Volkofsky (Director of Ministry).
