Laurence Frank Sinclair

Air Vice Marshal Sir Laurence Frank Sinclair GC, KCB, CBE, DSO & Bar was awarded the George Cross for rescuing a severely injured airman from a crashed and burning plane on September 30th at RAF Wattisham in Suffolk [1]. Unfortunately the pilot later died of his wounds. Notice of his award appeared in the London Gazette on the 21st of January 1941. Sinclair was OC No 110 Squadron (Wattisham) at the time.
Sir Laurence was born on the 13th of June 1908, attended Haileybury and Imperial Service College and enjoyed an illustrious service career. He died on the 14th of May 2001. His medal is on display at the Victoria & George Cross Gallery in London's Imperial War Museum.
