Laurence H. Bankart was the 15th head football coach for the Colgate University Raiders located in the Village of Hamilton in Madison County, New York and he held that position for five seasons, for 1910 and then again from 1913 until 1916. His overall coaching record at Colgate was 28 wins, 7 losses, and 3 ties. This ranks him sixth at Colgate in terms of total wins and second at Colgate in terms of winning percentage. [1]

Bankhart's five years as coach was the longest-tenured football coach at Colage since the first coach Samuel Colgate, Jr. headed the program for three years (some sources say two) until 1929, when Andrew "Andy" Kerr took over the program for 18 seasons.[2]
