Laurence A. Rickels

Laurence A. Rickels is professor of Germanic, Slavic and Semitic Studies and Comparative Literature at the University of California at Santa Barbara and adjunct professor in the art studio and film studies departments. He is also the Sigmund Freud Professor of Psychoanalysis at the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, where he conducts an Intensive Summer Seminar. His books include The Vampire Lectures, The Case of California, Acting Out in Groups and Nazi Psychoanalysis volumes I-III. Rickels is both a theorist and psychotherapist, and, switching to the art world setting, regular contributor to Artforum, ArtUs and Flash Art. His lectures at the University of California at Santa Barbara are among the most popular on campus.
