[edit] Biography

[edit] Career

Zettle began her professional career in her early teens, appearing in a multitude of mail-order catalogues, most notably for the teen clothing retailers dELiA*s and Alloy[1]. The young model, with her pale skin, freckles and auburn hair, appealled to advertising agencies, and she quickly became a fixture in American magazines and television, starring in commercials and advertisements for Noxema, Bonne Bell, Tampax, and Garnier.

By her late teens, Zettle began to pull away from the traditional modelling world, adapting a more alternative look, which included tattoos, piercings, and hair extensions. In this period she was perhaps more well known for her relationships with musicians than her modelling work.

In 2005, Zettle signed a year-long contract with Los Angeles-based clothing company American Apparel, notorious for its amateur-style, sexually-charged ads, and became a familiar face on metropolitan billboards across the country. The brand's controversial CEO Dov Charney took her under his wing, recognizing the model's interest and prenatural talent in make-up art and fashion design. He encouraged her to take a more active role behind the camera, and she often began assisting him in shoots. In 2006, Charney made Zettle the head make-up artist and hairstylist of the company's advertising department.[2].

In addition to modelling, she is also a musician and singer, providing harmonies in the Mates of State album Bring It Back.

[edit] Personal life

Zettle married her design partner, Christopher Perkins in 2007. She has numerous tattoos, including a traditional red rose on her foot, a small heart on her wrist, a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness, and the Latin phrase Post Tenebras Lux. She is close friends with Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel of the indie rock duo Mates of State, actress Chloƫ Sevigny, and artist Alexandra Ashley.
