Laurenţiu Dumitru Roşu, (born 26 October 1975), is a Romanian footballer, who plays for Recreativo de Huelva and Romania.

[edit] Steaua Bucuresti (1993-00)

Laurentiu Rosu started his professional career playing for the local team in his natal town Politehnica Iasi, in Divizia B.

Although he was very young , 18 years old, he was transferred by the champion team in the first division, Steaua Bucuresti where played for more than seven years.

In his first season for Steaua Bucuresti he was more a substitute player and was used only in four games but in the next season when his opponent on left midfielder place was transferred he won a place in the first eleven and played in 31 games, succeeded to score 6 times. In that season Steaua Bucuresti became again the champion team in Romania. This would happen , actually for another next 3 seasons and Steaua established a record being the first Romanian team after World War II which won for 6 consecutive seasons the champion title.

As well Steaua Bucuresti, with Laurentiu Rosu as titular player became the first Romanian team qualified in UEFA Champions League Groups, in the season 1994-1995, performance which was repeated in the next seasons. For Steaua Bucuresti, the only team which for Rosu played in the Divizia A, he played in 159 games and scored 45 times.

In the season 1997-1998 Laurentiu Rosu won for the last time the champion title but he played another 2 seasons for Steaua. Although they won only the 3rd place in those 2 seasons, Rosu had his best period in his career and scored 27 goals in 58 games.

His performances with Steaua are: 5 champion titles and 3 Romanian Cups in 1996, 1997 and 1999. In the European Cups he played only with Steaua Bucharest in UEFA Champions League and in UEFA Cup in 43 games and scored 4 times.

At the end of the season 1999-2000 he was remarked and transferred in Spain at CD Numancia.

In his first season there, he played in 27 games and scored 8 times but unfortunately his team was relegated in the Segunda Division. He played for CD Numancia another 3 seasons and in 2004 signed for Recreativo de Huelva.

In his first season there didn't play because of an injury but in the next season, 2005-2006 in 34 games scored 9 times and they succeeded to pass in Primera Division.

[edit] International Career

Roşu made his debut for the Romanian national team in 1998 against Portugal, and represented his country at Euro 2000.

He played in 38 games for the national team and succeeded to score 5 times against teams like Azerbaijan, Liechtenstein, Latvia, Nigeria and his most important goal, against Bulgaria in 2006 in the qualifiers for EURO 2008.
