Born Andrea Eigner, and hailing from Queens, NY, Laurell earned her first gold record in Canada, on Polytel/PolygramRecords with the song “For Your Love” in 1994. The single, originally released on RicMar Records, achieved the number one position on the Canadian dance chart and also charted in Italy, France, Israel and Holland. For Your Love, a fusion of 90’s house and Euro-dance, was co-written by Laurell and her producers, Gino Crescenza and Maurizio Nalli of Stonebridge fame. Her follow-up single, For Your Love, achieved wider cross-over success in Canada.

Laurell's 1999 EP release on Laurell’s own Clover Records label was more of a pop album, with a mystical lyrical bent. Larry Flick summed it up well, calling her an “ethereal poet” with a “formidable talent for the kind of contagious hooks that top-40 programmers crave”. (Billboard, Jan. 2000)

In the last few years, Laurell has been writing and recording under the name Laurell John.
