Laughlin River Run
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Laughlin River Run is an annual gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts. It is the largest gathering of its type in the Western United States.[1] The event drew over 70,000 motorcycle enthusiasts in 2007.
[edit] History
The river run was started in 1983 with 426 participants. [2] It was conceived by Harley-Davidson dealer Dale Marschke, who wanted to bring his customers on a fun weekend ride.[3] The name comes from the river run to Oatman, Arizona that many of the rally goers participate in.
The 2002 rally was marred by a major brawl at Harrah's Laughlin Casino that left three bikers dead, another 13 injured, and 9 bikers arrested. This event has now been termed the River Run Riot.[4]
