Category:Laughingthrushes

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Laughingthrushes are a group of songbirds placed in the Old World babblers family. Despite them displaying a bewildering range of shapes, sizes and colors, they were traditionally united in the genus Garrulax, though this was never universally accepted and there have been many attempts to divide them among several smaller genera.

Modern research has verified this critical point of view, and it is now known that, while laughingthrushes are not as massively polyphyletic as the fulvettas or Old World warblers for example, they still do not form a group of closest relatives.

This category lists birds traditionally considered laughingthrushes, regardless of their actual relationships.
