- Franklin D. Roosevelt was responsible for drastically changing the government's role in people's well being. His New Deal program rescued the country from the depression and set a new precedent for the services that the government provides.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. led the civil rights movement. His charismatic leadership was responsible for many of the civil rights demonstrations that prompted the government to draft new civil rights legislation.
- Henry Ford’s assembly line spurred the industrial revolution which drastically changed the way that the United States functioned. Ford’s cars changed the United States from a static rural community (with its population concentrated around cities) into a more suburban nation with the majority of citizens commuting to their jobs.
- Harry S. Truman was a key figure during World War II. He authorized the development and the use of the Atomic bomb. This in turn led to the Cold War.
- Theodore Roosevelt was a very important president. He established the National Park Service and is responsible for the majority of parks that we have today. In addition, he practically reinvented the presidency. He was the first "activist president" and guided the nation from the "Bully Pulpit"
- Dwight Eisenhower is of note because of his role in World War II. As Commanding General of the European Theater, Eisenhower is responsible for the Ally victory in the European Theater.
- Woodrow Wilson was played an important role making wise decisions concerning America's involvement in World War I. His "Fourteen Points" served as the foundation for the league of nations.
- Elvis Presley was an important figure in American culture and music. He practically invented Rock and Roll and transformed pop-culture.
- Richard Nixon played an important role in the way that America viewed its politicians. His illegal actions created a sense of distrust and scrutiny to be held by the general population of the US which is still present today.
- Joseph McCarthy was a key figure in the Red Scare. His "witch hunts" of "suspected communist sympathizers" resulted in the period known as McCarthyism.
