Talk:Latimer, Buckinghamshire
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is a common fallacy, that seems to be implied in this article, that the Cheynes (such as the unfeasibly long-lived Thomas Cheyne) gave their name to Chenies (the place). In actual fact it derives from the earlier and unrelated holders of the 12th - 13th centuries, the Cheney family. However the Cheynes did give their name to Cheyne walk in Chelsea.
- Can you quote references for this please? The Victorian History of the County of Buckinghamshire by Lipscombe agrees with the article, as does the Magna Britannica. -- Francs2000 | Talk [[]] 16:28, 6 May 2005 (UTC)
