Latymer

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Latymer (also Latimer) is an uncommon English surname. It is a 'surname of office' derived from latinier, or latimer, a speaker or writer of Latin. This occupation existed in medieval Europe when Latin was the common language of science, literature, law, and administration and thus the vehicle of records and transcripts.

[edit] Schools

In the city of London, Latymer usually refers to one of three secondary schools associated with the 1624 bequest of Edward Latymer, a City merchant.
