Latha is the principal of the Dr. MGR Home and Higher Secondary School for the Speech and hearing Impaired, the Secretary and Correspondent of Dr.MGR Janaki College of Arts and Science for Women. She received the prize for the best teacher for the Hearing Impaired from the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1996. Latha is the niece of former chief minister of Tamil Nadu Janaki Ramachandran. She is an active rotarian and is involved with the activities of the Rotary Club of Madras Porur - Rotary Dist 3230.
