Latamber is a town and Union Council of Karak District in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan[1]. It is an important town of Karak tehsil and is 29 kilometers east of Bannu at 33°6'33N 70°52'3E.

Latamber is situated at the foothills of Spenghar, In its North is the Mountain range of Spenghar, in west is the F.R. Bannu, in south Thall desert and in the east District H.Q. Karak. It is at a distance of 160km south of the Provincial capital Peshawar.

The population of Latamber town is about 30 thousand and the population of Latamber union council ( which includes many small villages along with main Latamber town) is about 60 thousand.

Latamber is one of the oldest towns of Pakistan. In the past Latamber has been known by various names, Latapur, Latmar, Latobar and Latamber.

The major Pashtun tribe settled in Latamber isKhattaks,while in minority Qureshi,Paracha,Qazi and Bahtani are also living in latamber. Latamber was originally a Hindu town, but eventually was captured by Khattaks from Pathan tribe of Marwat under the leadership of Haidar Ali Khan Khattak.

Latamber is bounded on the south by the green desert of Thall, on the north by the hills known as Spenghar. The hills of Spenghar are covered with green grasses & trees which serve as source of income for the poor local people.
[edit] Notable buildings
On the west by newly constructed dam Changoious is a famous place of Latamber - there is a tomb of mujahideen Faqir Epi Wazir who with the people of Latamber played a very important role in the freedom struggle of Pakistan. Peoples of Latamber sacrificed their lives for freedom, the Changhoious Tomb is the sign of their struggle, on the east green fields of Karak.
Latamber is the home of many brave sons who have served and are serving in the armed forces of Pakistan. Some have rendered great sacrifices for the home land Pakistan.

There are numerous public and private schools and colleges but no college for the females.
Shahedan Baba is a famous picnic point, it is situated at the distance of 6 km from Latamber town. It is situated in between the Spenghar hills, it is popular with the youth of Latamber.
The weather of Latamber is extreme both in summer and winter.
There is a huge graveyard know as Qabroona starting from the main adda of Latamber where thousand of lives have been laid down to rest.
An another old but gold building is of the DAK BANGLOW, which has its own history. It was built by the British Government as a Rest House for its Dignatories. Its still in good condition although having no officials' care and proper maintinance.

The Rural Health centre of Latamber provides medical facility to the Region, it provides only Checkup facilities for, HB Test, Malaria Test, etc. provide little bit facilities in accidental cases. Only One simple MBBS doctor is present.
Now RHC Latamber has been upgraded by Provincial government and it will now the "D" grade Hospital. Medical, Surgical, Eye and ENT specialist will be available for treatment. One Dental Surgeon is already working here.
