Latakia District

Latakia District (Arabic: منطقة اللاذقية) is a Syrian district (mantiqah) administratively belonging to Latakia Governorate. Its capital city is the city of Latakia. The Province or "mouhafaza" used to be semi autonomous entity under the French mandate known as "Alawite State" (which is basically the mountain of the Alawites.) agriculture is very important in the province, with citrus fruit, Apples, and Olives. Tourism mostly from the Gulf States is also high in the summer season, especially in the mountain resort of Slinfah.
