I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Oh yeah, I almost forgot, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post. I have removed the speedy tag on the article you created, and added a bit to it. It would be a great idea to continue expanding it with reliable sources to give a fuller picture of the man. Good luck and let me know if I can help you in any way! Slp1 (talk) 22:37, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for removing that tag. I was working on another page that pointed to this person. So I began by creating a stub and intended to come back to it. Didn't know every edit had to be complete in itself. - Last Contrarian (talk) 22:48, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
No problem. Sometimes people are a bit overenthusiastic with the speedy tags, though it is amazing to see the kind of non-notable people (and other things) that articles are created about sometimes. Personally I have been very careful to write a very full bio, with several refs and lots of links and claims of notability before I hit the save button. e.g.[1] This has worked well for me, if it is any help!!! Anyway good luck and let me know if I can help! Slp1 (talk) 22:59, 10 May 2008 (UTC)
Writing a complete article in one go is a tough job, especially when the person you are writing about has worked in a multitude of films. One page I am trying to build up is Ram Gopal Varma. This man has done so much in the past twenty years that it will be a month before it is anywhere near complete. In any case, the person who placed the tag could have checked Special:WhatLinksHere/Virendra_Saxena and probably waited a while. Anyway, next time onwards, I will be careful to write at least one sentence on why a person has his own page. - Last Contrarian (talk) 19:08, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Anup Soni

I have nominated Anup Soni, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Anup Soni. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Martijn Hoekstra (talk) 21:49, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Keep going adding all the information you can. You are doing a great job. --Slp1 (talk) 22:14, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Slp1. Thank you for trying to help out. But that is not how I want to do it. When I create the page for a film, I do it because I have spent 3 hours watching the film - from beginning to end, including the credits. After adding the cast list to the page, if the page for an artist, particularly those who play small but significant parts - character artists, does not exist, I create it with some basic information. I don't intend to write about their personal lives and that kind of stuff.
Who decides what is notable? The wikipedia guidelines read like a legal textbook. If specifying that a person is an actor and that he has acted in so and so films is not enough, I don't know what is. Maybe a person has to be the president of the United States to get his own Wikipedia entry. Seems like I am wasting my time spending a few hours everyday updating this thing when all some people do is keep marking pages for deletion.
I can understand your frustration totally. There are some clear guidelines at WP:ENTERTAINER that indicate what an actor must have done to get an article. Adding newspaper articles about the films, mentioning the person, is a good way to prove that the person is notable, and that their performances were notable. That's why I added them. One thing to know, though, is that because this is a wiki, this is not your article, and you can't really decide what does and does not go into it. Somebody else may come by and add the info about personal lives etc. It won't be me, though!--Slp1 (talk) 22:55, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
Yes. It is not my article. I only said that I am concentrating on their work, not on their personal lives. If someone wants to go though newspaper articles and provide a summary, they are welcome to do that. As for notability, I thought providing a corresponding imdb link, and if they are an alumni of the NSD or FTII - two of India's most prestigious film, television and theater academies - mentioning that fact, should be enough of a start.

[edit] Critics Best movie template

Hello!

I'm not sure whether this template is appropriate on Wikipedia. Creating a sole template for only one category from the Filmfare is wrong and POV. It will also be POV to create templates for Filmfare and leave the National Film Awards behind, which is the most prominent film award cceremony in India. So I'm thinking to take it up for deletion. What do you say? ShahidTalk2me 18:52, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Can only do one thing at one time. Will finish up with filmfare critics and then do the national awards. If anyone else wants to help, they are welcome to do so.Last Contrarian (talk) 19:11, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeh these are the two most prominent award ceremonies in India. Well but I still don't know if that's good at all. I also find it as a bit odd that you have created a template for critics awards rather than the Filmfare Best Film Award, which is the main award for films in this function. I really appreciate your efforts, but do you think it's much needed? Other than that, what are you intending to do? To create templates for all the categories? ShahidTalk2me 20:53, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
I have been working on Satya (film) for some time now. Yesterday, User:Classicfilms came and inserted a Filmfare (Critics) Award infobox on the page. So I thought why not create a template that displays all the critically acclaimed films. That's how it got started.
Unlike the Academy Award winning films, we cannot access award winning Indian films and actors through a single template because such a template did not exist before. I have started with a few, particularly those related to critics awards. Hope others get involved, if they want to that is.
These are where the National Film Award templates will go - [2]. And the Filmfare Award templates should go here - [3]. Last Contrarian (talk) 21:08, 12 June 2008 (UTC)
