Talk:Last Christmas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Is Ashley Tisdale's version going to be on her album (as the article says)? I doubt it. Why would you put a Christmas song on an album you're releasing in February? Everyking 07:44, 25 November 2006 (UTC)
Why should the Ashley Tisdale version be mentioned in such a long part and the other cover versions in a short sentence? - Apart from sales promotion that is. --129.217.189.10 10:53, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Apparently you fail to understand how Wikipedia is built—it isn't done all at once. Some things get done sooner than others. The fact that nobody has written about the other cover versions is no excuse for deleting info on this one—the goal should be to have info on all of them, not none of them. The info needs to be either restored here or moved into an individual article. Everyking 12:03, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
"The song has no bearing to the holiday itself"? Um... I think we can safely say it does. There are references to Christmas all the way through the lyrics, not to mention the "sleighbell" tambourine sound. I think I'm going to remove this unless anyone wants to argue otherwise.Tobycek 22:50, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] About to go on another hoax cleanup
Now the issue is "Last Christmas" by Ashley Tisdale being released as a CD Single. I can find sources for a digital download version, but can anyone point me at a source for there being a physical CD Single?Kww 15:52, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Wham2.jpg
Image:Wham2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Author???
In German wiki the text says, the song was composed by George Michael [1], english wiki tells: " It was written by Andrew Ridgely, one half of the duo." And in German TV, in a chartshow, the host told, that it was written by George Michael, but he gave the rights to Andrew as a gift, when George left Wham! So what is true now? --217.95.183.201 (talk) 21:21, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
You're right. The english entry is wrong. I've got the original single with the following note: All songs written, arranged and produced by George Michael. After the split of Wham! George Michael gave the rights of the song Andrew Ridgely.84.62.88.49 (pankh) 05:07, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cover versions
sooo...Just curious as to why Ashley Tisdale gets her own call out on this page, as there are hundreds of covers of this song. I suppose the argument can be in favor of the success of her version, but others have been just as popular (if not more so, internationally).
And since there are hundreds of covers, is it even worth putting up a list? perhaps it's more efficient to direct people to last-christmas.com that house an archive of the song. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.124.66.93 (talk) 05:34, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] "Can't Smile Without You"
"Due to obvious similarities between "Last Christmas" and the song "Can't Smile Without You" as popularised by Barry Manilow....." What are these similarities? Was there court action between the two artists? This section really should be expanded and sourced properly. - eo (talk) 01:22, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
