This page is within the scope of WikiProject Games, an attempt to build a comprehensive and detailed guide to articles on Games on Wikipedia. If you would like to participate, you can edit the article attached to this page, or visit the project page, where you can join the project and/or contribute to the discussion.

.

The purpose of this page is NOT to promote the message board referenced -- that is exactly what it appears to be, a reference which supports the information in the article. If I were promoting message groups, I would be promoting my own (which I am not). I do occaisionally post on the Laser Forums message board, but am not in any way affiliated with them in terms of ownership, management, moderation, promotion, etc.

The reason I have added this page is (1) There is no Wiki page for nor even mentioning "Laser Skirmish" despite that being a term in common usage within the sport as played in ANZ, and (2) redirecting to Laser Tag is at present likely to be counter-productive since there has been a minor revert war going on there while people try to hash out exactly what the article should contain. Without getting mired in that mess, I am trying to add to the knowledge base on Wikipedia by creating short pages such as this one which provide title-specific information and then direct the reader to the main Laser Tag page via a link within the smaller article. That will allow the main Laser Tag article to remain clear, concise, and to the point without becoming bogged down with minute details about every possible variant of the game, while still being complete.

Update 22 JAN 2007: For those who have flagged this article for deletion, please read closely: I understand your suggestion that this be merged with the Laser Tag page, and I agree in principle. That IS where the information belongs. However, there is presently disagreement within that page as to how to structure the article. I have sent emails to those most actively involved with maintaining that article and solicited their input on how to best integrate the information I have on the subject into that article, without ruffling too many feathers. I am awaiting response on the subject. When they have weighed in either by email or via the discussion page, I will work with them to rewrite that article without triggering another revert war (which has already been seen on that page), integrate this page into it, and convert this page into a simple redirect to that one.

Part of the problem is that "Laser Tag" is really just a generic label with nearly no meaning, but everyone who is involved with one specific variant or other of the game seems to think that it is the "only" version of the game and everything else should not be mentioned. We are getting around that, slowly. Thus I am preparing articles for "Lazer Tag" (the brand name) and various forms of outdoor Lasertag gaming. Being one of the engineers who is behind the brand name and also an enthusiastic player of the sport in general, I have a fair amount of solid information to add on both fronts.

Anyway as for this specific article, it has been editted and improved by the addition of more references top support the statements, which themselves have been expanded. TagFerret 04:42, 23 January 2007 (UTC)TagFerret

Hi, I'm Gooner from Battlefield Live Forums and, although I do work for the company, I would like to help get this Wikipedia article going strong by helping to provide unbiased opinions on the sport. GoonerW 08:26, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] March 2008 Clean Up

I removed a lot of the 'references' that don't pass reliable source guidelines and the ones that serve to promote a commercial entity and stubbed the article. I still have questions about independent notability, but I think it's in better condition than it was. TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 01:27, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
