[edit] Lasertag wiki
so now theres a lasertag wiki [1] so if any of you feel like adding articles, or adding stuff to the articles that are already there.. go ahead. 208.58.38.36 (talk) 04:17, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] More Information
I work at Laser Quest, I have added the rules about lying down, and etc. On every HHU, or laser, in the LCD it will tell you your rank and current score most of the times when tagged. The unit that sends and receive pack information is called HSDLU, or High Speed Data Link Unit. its true it tells your score and rank every 3 deactivations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.183.126.131 (talk) 06:25, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
GUILDFORD TCQ ARE THE BEST TEAM
Please don't edit info that should be there some may be questionable but some could be left alone for instance i know a lot of members that think all the packs are not the same and keep track of them but they are tested and fixed regularly so one pack that may seem not as good will be fixed within 24 hours and laying down and crouching is not allowed in any type of play its in the players code —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.183.126.131 (talk) 06:11, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Unusual game types
I've also written a section on unusual game types, i.e. those that are not programmed as default into most systems. They can be seen at User:SeventyThree/LQ-unusual. I'm not sure if they should go in the article or not.SeventyThree 21:10, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)
According to Google, Laser Quest is still available as Laser Quest in America. And when I used to play, the wireless connection to the central computer was all through the game, so it could tell you your position and who you hit during the (unsigned comment by 57.66.51.165, at 14:38, 7 October 2005. SeventyThree(Talk) 16:56, 10 October 2005 (UTC))

- I have no experience of LQ in america. Feel free to edit the article if you think it needs adding to.
- The wireless connection to the central computer where I play is intermittent, so the scores are only updated if you wander past the 'airlock'. As such, they are quite unreliable.SeventyThree(Talk) 16:56, 10 October 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Suggested Merge
I suggested that this page be merged with Laser Tag. They're both very similar (if the same) game. - Icecradle 20:10, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
Like I stated on the Lasertag talk page, LaserQuest is just one type of Laser Tag. They should stay as separate articles. ParticleMan 23:30, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
This article features a lot of information, that is specifically relevant to LaserQuest, but not applicable to all other tag systems. As it is I think that some of the stuff in the main Lasertag article is ambiguous. I think that all the tag systems should have a separate article, like this one, and that anything in the Lasertag article that definately only applies to one tag system should be moved to the article for that system. Big Mac 02:39, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
I am removeing the merge to laser tag, laserquest is a type of laser tag yes but it is unique in many ways --Kylehamilton 11:48, 6 January 2006 (UTC)
I think merging this article is an incredibly bad idea. It is unfortunately easy with such things as the number of LQ locations Versent operates in North America for one to think at first LQ is the alpha and omega of laser tag, but this is far from the case. Shawn K. Quinn 06:26, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Category change
This category should be 'Laser Quest' not 'LaserQuest'. The actual copyrighted term for this particular brand of laser tag uses a space between the two words. Xipheas.
Trademarked, not copyrighted, and that trademark may be just the way the name is trademarked in North America, as I think some UK sites use the no-space version. Shawn K. Quinn 06:28, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah sorry.. trademark :) And in the UK it's supposed to have a space, but some people don't realise. But that's like spelling Laser with a 'z'. Incorrect :) Xiph.
[edit] A Few Changes
Some of the information such as game parameters and strategies do not apply to the center I attend in Massachusetts. I've made edits to reflect this:
-Added 15 minutes as a recommended game time for a normal game in addition to 20. (June 22, 2006)
-We use a 5 second down time, so I noted that as well. (June 22, 2006)
-The cancelling, as far as some of the employees of my center are concerned, is fiction. There is a small chance that it works with some centers, so I merely am attaching a note, rather than deleting it entirely. (June 22, 2006)
--Shot cancellation does exit, although its effect on the game is frequently exaggerated by players more familiar with other system where it is easier to tag a player for various reasons (often the narrow spread of the infrared beam compared to other systems).
-Changed a small amount of terminology. (June 22, 2006)
-Split LaserQuest into two words, since that is the official company name, where necessary. (June 22, 2006)
-The intro to the "problems" section refers to "two of three" problems. This does not make a great deal of sense, so I changed it to "two or three." (June 22, 2006)
-I have also edited this discussion piece by adding the date(s) I made these edits. (June 22, 2006)
-Correction, I was a bit off. Hit cancellation does actually work. Fixed my mistake. (June 23, 2006)

what does nac mean??? can someone explain this to me??? please???!!!
Well, Anonymous person, NAC stands for North America Challenge, which is a competition where every North American LQ center sends a team to compete. -Bakodo
hey sorry about that, that was my gf, something about you not explaining that in the article. whatever 04:08, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] More Updates
Hey, I'm just an LQ Widow, not a NAC player, so I didn't make any significant changes to facts. I tried to clean up the style and writing a bit. I did have some trouble doing that with the game styles page; I'll have one of the former NAC blokes I know (probably the one I'm married to) go over it and make any needed changes there. I'm still leaving the note up, as I haven't been able to go over everything, and as I'm still relatively new to Wikipedia. Sanji DarkAsSin 20:13, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Spokane
Deleted description of certain aspects of the Spokane maze. Unless we're going to describe all the other locations, it seemed pointless to include. 69.85.184.93 04:39, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Spokane is the biggest in the country seemed reasonable to mention it —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.183.126.131 (talk) 06:06, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] original research/unverified claims
I can understand the concern over original research; what is the proper way to document the common knowledge of many current and former LQ players as a source? A lot of the stuff in articles like this will be original research because so few books or permanent Web sites are written about LQ and laser tag. Shawn K. Quinn 06:30, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fustration over recent edits
From what I have seen over the past few weeks there have been several attempts by myself and other people who play laser quest to improve this article with pertinent information and links. However, our efforts are getting fustrated (and subsequently creating fustration) by people who not only appear to know nothing about the game, but are unwilling to do a bit of "leg work" to look at the links that are provided. Please do not lecture me about wikipedia rules on author ownership or such. This seems like weasel words and sheer laziness on the part of the people who are trolling about constantly undoing the edits. What can be done to make those of you who seem to take pride in reverting without really investingating something to stop doing so? Does this artice require mediation? I want to see this article at its best, but this does not mean undoing and challanging the minorest of revisions to it, does it? Because franklly the behaviour of those who have been doind these reverts seems absurd. Rocdahut (talk) 08:21, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- After our recent discussions, I assume that I am one of the persons you are talking about in this comment. Content of Wikipedia articles needs to be verifiable by others, both by people who know Laser Quest and by people who don't. Verifiability is established by providing reliable sources that use a specific term or make a specific assertion. You haven't provided a reliable source using the term "Denver download" yet. And as outlined in Wikipedia:Verifiability#Burden of evidence, "the burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material. All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged should be attributed to a reliable, published source using an inline citation. The source should be cited clearly and precisely to enable readers to find the text that supports the article content in question." In other words, it's up to you to "prove" why the term "Denver download" belongs in this article, it's not up to me to prove why it doesn't.
- And when you say to someone "do not revert if you do not play the game", you are claiming ownership of an article. Asking for citations is not a right reserved to people who know Laser Quest.
- I have tried to explain this calmly and civilly on our talk pages, when we discussed this matter there, and I am willing to discuss this calmly and civilly here. But I will not put up with insinuations of trolling. AecisBrievenbus 12:36, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] AFD notice
During copy editing I removed content from this articles and created North America Challenge, after some consideration and my inability to find reliable sourcing for the article I decided that it should be deleted and have started a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/North America Challenge it also includes the articles North America Challenge 2007 and North America Challenge 2006. Gnangarra 11:25, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
- If North America Challenge does get deleted, I suggest its content get merged back into this article. The more recent results can be verified here [2] --CptNimrod (talk) 04:13, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
I don't know what qualifies as a reliable source for you but at the bottom of the following website is the records for NAC straight from LQ's Corporate website. NAC Records over the years --NepentheLQ (talk) 12:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
With the above cited website as a historical link for all NAC's past I've replaced the deleted content at least on the main page. I did not restore any sub articles. --NepentheLQ (talk) 12:32, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
