The last match of VFL/AFL football played at Victoria Park was an Australian rules football match staged between Collingwood and the Brisbane Lions, in round 22 of season 1999. The match was a fizzer, the spark of the contest quickly extinguished by the Lions in the opening term, who went on to record a 42-point victory. The Collingwood flag, atop the Sherrin Stand, was taken down at the conclusion of the match, and ceremonially shifted to the MCG, in recognition of the Magpies official move to the MCG.
