Las Lajas is a third category municipality and capital of Picunches Department, located in the Neuquén Province, Argentina.

Las Lajas is located 242 km from Neuquén City on the right shore of Agrio river, 703 m AMSL.

The climate is Semi-arid with low precipitations from 200 to 400 milimiters coming form the Pacific Ocean. The maximum temperature in the region is 30°C recorded in the months of December, January and February. The minimum year temperature is -2°C .

The town established on February 8, 1987 by General Enrique Godoy as the headquarters of the 8 and 9 Cavalry regiments. The Importance of this regiments were to protect the colons after the ocupation of the aborigin lands and take the control of the region.

The main tourist attraction in the zone are the several spas located on the town and the fishing.
