[edit] Lara Cox

Lara Jane Cox was born in Canberra, Australia on 6th March 6 1978. She's got one younger brother who she loves dearly, and tries to get back to Canberra to spend time with her family as much as possible. The high schools she went to are Menai College and Daramalan College. Her nicknames at school were Lar, and LJ, because of her middle name. LJ didn't do a lot of studying, but passed all her exams, handed in all her assignments and her marks were good enough to get into Uni. Lara used to model in Canberra and Sydney in school holidays, but it was just a way to make some money, as she didn't quite enjoy it. In 1995 she spent two months working in Taipei which was the hardest work she's ever done. After finishing school she went straight into Heartbreak High. She had never acted before, went to audition, through heaps of rehearsals and more auditions, and got the part! She's really glad she started on Heartbreak, because every day she went to work there she learned more and more about acting, and she reckons when eventually she left the show she could take an amazing method and real skills with her. When she was little Lara wanted to become a primary school teacher, her first paying job however was at the television: doing a Canterbury clothing commercial. She enjoys eating, her favourite foods are chocolate and pasta, and the sport she likes best is netball. Her all time idol is her mother, and Lara wants to be remembered being a loyal friend and loving her family. Things she dislikes are pork and fake people. Because she has so little spare time these days, Lara likes to spend it catching up with friends. Depending on her mood, sometimes she likes quiet nights at home when she can relax by watching videos (her favourite films are Grease and Good Will Hunting) and pigging out, and other times she likes going out and dancing the night away. Going to the beach is another favourite way to pass the time, and if she's feeling energetic she likes to rollerblade as well. Lara is a lot like Anita in some ways, but in other ways they are total opposites. Lara would never say most things Anita says, and is not as easily lead by guys as her. But she is passionate about what she believes in just as Anita is. Lara doesn't need to diet or exercise in order to keep thin. The only exercise she does is take the dog for a walk with Cal. She once said could never have plastic surgery. Her all time idol is her mother, though when Lara was younger she was a big fan of Kylie Minogue. Her favourite concert ever was Run DMC's. Jon's also a mate of Lara's. Callan got Lara a Flip (skateboard) Lara replies to her fan mail, but when she's working it takes ages, due to the hours she works. Filming Heartbreak High took about 50 hours a week, weekends off, if they had a big storyline. they worked very long hours, all day every day, and that they didn't have much of a social life left. After she left Heartbreak High, Lara appeared in commercials for Australian television, and at the end of 1998 she's done a shooting for a shoe company ad, in Melbourne. But she'd give anything to keep acting and is planning to move on to more adult orientated programs now that Heartbreak High has finished, though she's are aware that the adoration she's now receiving pertains to the high school program and could quickly disappear. But the fame thing doesn't matter her of them anyway. The Australian television and entertainment industry believes there are big things in store for Lara. Callan and Lara's relationship Lara dated her onscreen boyfriend in real life as well, for over two years, but the couple broke up in 2000. Anita and Drazic love eachother very dearly, but because of his family background Draz finds it difficult to trust anyone and be truly open, which is totally opposite to the way Callan feels about Lara. The other day he was sitting at the table and he just found himself thinking, God, why am I so lucky? He says sometimes he almost feels guilty he has so many good things in his life. Lara and Callan's relationship is something they choose not to talk about in detail, but he does confess when he went out with other girls there was a honeymoon period and then things sort of started to go downhill, though with Lara, he falls in love with her again all the time; it just keeps getting better and better! He and her often finish each other sentences and seem to be thinking the same thing at the same time. When Lara first met Cal, she was actually frightened! It really wasn't love at first sight for them. When Lara first read in the script for Heartbreak High that her character was going to kiss Drazic, she wasn't quite glad either. When they started he had a skinhead and an attitude and he scared her stupid! She also had a boyfriend from back home so she wasn't thinking about starting anything with Callan at all, though she did think he was cute. Callan admits he was glad about his character kissing Anita, but it was really weird too because his heart was saying 'go for it', but his mind was saying 'you can't get into anything'. So a lot of the time he was doing anything to get away from the feelings he had, and Lara as well. So sometimes the on-screen was cool and sometimes it was just too intense. Their first screen kiss was very hard, cos they were doing something so intimate in front of thirty or forty people, and it's very difficult to open yourself up in those conditions, as Cal says. The first one was on a closed set so that helped a little, and he reckons throughout Heartbreak High it did get easier. Lara reckons kissing on set is a lot easier with someone she really likes; they just turn it on; but a screen kiss is still a screen kiss even with Cal. She says it's so not personal because there's a crew and you have to do it to order, time after time, so it kind of takes all the passion out of it. Callan thinks Heartbreak High benefited as well because people can tell when actors have feelings for eachother; it really comes through on the screen. It has a real magic. When Drazic had a fling with Jet, Callan had to kiss someone else in front of Lara, and she found it very weird and unnatural, seeing the person you love kissing someone else. She didn't get jealous, it was just a difficult feeling. It comes down to trust and she trusts her man completely! Lara had the boyfriend and she and Cal both thought working together and going out would just be too much. But trying to ignore their feelings for eachother was almost impossible, so at the beginning of 1997 they decided to go for it, because it wasn't going to go away! In the first year of their relationship when they were kind of on and off a lot, Lara and Cal experienced that everything that was happening to Draz and Anita was excactly what they were feeling and going through off screen, so they really thought someone was getting into their heads and writing their feelings down in the script for Heartbreak High. It really freaked them out. Lara reckons the threat of mixing up their outside and on-screen relationship is always there, but they just have to be professional about it, it's a job. But it would hurt to do a love scene after a huge argument, but you just have to switch those feelings off. Cal says sometimes it's quite good to bring things like that on to the set because you can use it to feed the emotional scenes you are doing. However, the couple hardly has any arguments at all! Lara and Callan went to London at the end of 1996 and they loved it over there. Cal says it was just amazing. They both want to go to Italy as well: they did some publicity over there around Christmas 1997, but they didn't get to see much of the country. Lara would also like to go somewhere tropical, like Hawaii. Just somewhere away from everywhere, to swim and to be in the sun and relax. Or go on a snowboarding trip with her boyfriend. Lara says her best dishes are pasta dishes like chicken with pasta. The perfume Lara wears is Chanel no. 5 or Clarins fragrance spray. She's terrible at singing. likes South Park; her favourite figure is Kenny, cos she feels sorry for him. The couple have been together for two years already, with some trouble just in the beginning. Now they live together in a nice house in the woods near Manly beach, they've got a cat and a dog, a border collie cross labrador cross something. Because I have so little spare time these days I like to spend it catching up with friends. I love working on Heartbreak High. The cast and crew are fantastic and we have a lot of fun. We have all become great friends and there have been some moments I will never forget. favourite pastime: ... eating pet likes: Having fun with friends, beach, holidays
