Larta Institute
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Larta Institute is an 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which is chartered with the mission to spur technology startup growth, commercialization, and technology transfer.
As a result of massive layoffs in the California aerospace and defense sector in the early 1990s (a result of the Cold War "peace dividend"), California in 1993 chartered three Regional Technology Alliances, one each in the Los Angeles metropolitan region, the San Francisco Bay Area, and San Diego. Over time, Larta Institute emerged as a private operation of national prominence, bringing together venture capital firms, major corporations, universities, and federal agencies.
Larta Institute spun out a venture capital fund, T2 Venture Capital, in April 2007.
