Lars Werner

Lars Werner (born July 25, 1935) is a Swedish politician. A construction worker by profession, he was elected the chairman of the Left Party - Communists in 1975 and was a member of the Swedish parliament from 1965 to 1993. During his time as party leader, in 1990, the party changed its name to the Left Party, removing the term "Communists". He resigned in 1993, and was succeeded by Gudrun Schyman.
