Lars Helminen (born January 1, 1985 in Brighton, Michigan) is an American professional ice hockey defenceman.

Helminen's parents are Karl and Eva Helminen. He has seven siblings, four brothers and three sisters. His brother Dwight played college hockey for the Michigan Wolverines. His sister Jodi played college hockey for Minnesota State. His brother Hans plays ice hockey for Little Caesars in the Mid West Elite Hockey League.
[edit] Playing Career
Lars played for the Compuware Ambassadors in the NAHL during the 2002-03 hockey season. He went on from there to play four years at Michigan Tech until 2007. After finishing school, he went straight to the Idaho Steelheads for one season. Now he is playing ice hockey in Finland for JYP in the SM-liiga along with his brother, Dwight.
