Lars Evensen

Lars Samuel Myhrer Evensen (12 November 1896 – 19 January 1969) was a Norwegian politician for the Labour Party.
Evensen was born in Drøbak. In the 1920s he was a high-ranked member of the Norwegian Communist Party. He was active in local politics as a member of Lørenskog municipality council from 1922 to 1928. He then joined the Labour Party. During the German occupation of Norway, Evensen was a member of the Norwegian resistance movement and the Norwegian legation in Stockholm.
After the occupation he was Minister of Trade in 1945 during the first cabinet Gerhardsen, then Minister of Industry from 1945 to May 1953 and September 1953 to November 1953 during the second cabinet Gerhardsen and the cabinet Torp.
He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Oslo in 1954, and sat through one term. His career in politics ended with the post of County Governor of Vest-Agder, which he held from 1954 to 1966.
