[edit] The Wartman
When Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) was wrongly convicted for shooting Matt Clark (Eddie Cibrian) and sent to jail, he encountered "The Wartman", otherwise known as Larry Warton, a thug who constantly tormented and intimidated Nick day after day. One day a fight erupted between Larry and Nick, which would've ended in Nick's death had his father Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) not intercepted and beaten Larry to a pulp.
Larry was released on probation in 1999 and was recruited by a vengeful Matt (now played by Rick Hearst), who now went under the alias Carter Mills, to bring the Newman family down. While plotting to frame Nick for manufacturing and selling ecstasy, Larry developed a soft spot for his young daughter, Cassie (Camryn Grimes), who eventually persuaded him to testify for Nick, rather than against him.
Larry gradually began to reform after Nick's mother Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) gave him a job as a janitor at Jabot Cosmetics. He also rescued Billy Abbott (David Tom) and Mackenzie Browning (Kelly Kruger) from Mac's stepfather, Ralph Hunicutt (Daniel Quinn). Larry then began an affair with Billy's mother, Jill (Jess Walton), who kept their affair a secret for fear that it would damage her reputation that she was dating a man so "beneath" her. Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) caught Larry sneaking out of Jill's room one night and confronted Jill about the affair. Jill viciously denied it, insulting Larry in the process. Larry retaliated by emptying a box of Jill's sex toys over the table at a Jabot board meeting.
In 2004, Larry helped Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), Nick's wife, cover up the fact that she had accidentally killed Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby). It was later revealed that Cameron was actually alive.
Larry was last seen in 2005, when he returned to town to take Sharon for a ride on his motorcycle to cheer her up after Cassie's death.
