Larry Kilgore is a Christian activist and frequent candidate for public office.

Larry Scott Kilgore was born in Amarillo, Texas in 1964. His parents taught him their belief in the importance of reading the Bible and prayer; he tributes his grandmother for his memorization of Scripture.

He served in the United States Air Force 1984 - 1988. He is married to his wife Valerie, and they have three children: Renee, Scott, and Sam. The Kilgore children are home schooled and often accompany their father as he travels campaigning and speaking at political events.

He has been described as a Biblical Christian due to his expressed belief in biblical law as the foundation for all law and that it is still applicable for nations today.

Kilgore is an advocate for the secession of Texas from the United States.[1] He believes that Texas needs to become a free Christian nation where all public policy is biblically based. He is also a signatory of the Chattanooga Declaration which was passed at the Second Secessionist Convention on October 4, 2007.

Larry Kilgore is most noted for his candidacy for governor of Texas in the 2006 Republican primary in which he received 7.64 percent (50,119) of votes cast[2] and as a 2008 Republican primary candidate for the United States Senate where he received 18.51 percent (225,897) votes cast.[3]
