Larry Don

The Larry Don was commissioned by Lawrence Fry and built in 1948 by Struttman. It was assembled on the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri and remains there to this day.
According to legend, it was build from a World War II landing craft that was quartered in St. Louis and trucked to the Lake of the Ozarks. Mr. Fry named the boat after his son Larry and his brother Don.
It is currently known as the Captain Larry Don. It is a three deck 240 passenger vessel 65 feet long with a 24 foot beam of all steel construction. It is powered by twin 1965 Cummins 220 marine diesel engines with gear-reduction transmissions and 32 inch four blade propellers. In its original configuration, it was two decks. The third deck was added in the early 1960's when other modifications were made. It is docked at Casino Pier, near Bagnell Dam, the same location it has graced since being built.
