Lapal

Lapal is a residential area of Halesowen in the West Midlands of England (part of Worcestershire until 1974). It is situated in the east of the town towards the border with Birmingham and is served by Lapal Primary School and Leasowes Community College. Most of the housing stock was built between 1930 and 1970.

The area is served by a small clustered collection of shops including a newsagents, chip shop, chemist and general grocery store.

The area has local bus connections with Halesowen town centre, Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Cradley Heath, Merry Hill, Birmingham and Oldbury. It is situated near to Junction 3 of the M5 motorway.

In March 1997, 88-year-old Hill Top Avenue resident Sarah Bateman was found strangled to death in her council-owned house. On 15 June 1998, Miss Bateman's next door neighbour Michael Baxter (29) was found guilty of her murder at Worcester Crown Court. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. [1]
