63.97.179.30 did not cite any references but, according to the 2005 Britannica article "Lao She" - "Lao She fell victim to persecution at the outset of the Cultural Revolution in 1966, and it is widely believed that he died as a result of a beating by Red Guards." Stainless steel 21:07, 25 July 2005 (UTC)

I was always told he jumped out a window when the red Guards came for him-- 25 September 2005 - Comment: NOT TRUE. 23 February 2006
